If you have ever wondered when to replace your car tires, then you should visit any of our Gandrud Service Centers or quick lube oil change service drives in Green Bay. We will inspect them for you for free, with no appointment necessary. At Gandrud, we take tires very seriously. The performance of your vehicle’s tires is critical to your safety, and the efficiency of your vehicle. Most car and truck tires are designed to perform consistently throughout their mileage cycle. Tread wear, cupping and road hazard objects like nails and screws can affect your vehicle’s performance and safety so it is important to inspect your tires on a regular basis. Every tire we sell comes with a 30 day price match guarantee to assure you that you get the best price and quality possible. Here are a few things you can do and inspect to see if your tires are performing optimally.
-Make sure your tires are always at the recommended (psi) tire pressure. Fill your tires with air if your tire pressure warning light comes on. Tire pressure lights will either reset automatically after a few miles or will need to be reset at the dealer manually.
-Check the tire treads to see if the tread is even with the wear bars. If it is even with the wear bars it is time for new tires.
-Take a quarter and insert it head down into the deepest part of the tread. If the tread is level with Washington's fore head your tread at 4/32nds. At this leveI your stopping distance and wet traction will be compromised; it is time for new tires.
-When the car is parked and the tires are cool to the touch, run your hand over the tread of the tire. If the tread feels bumpy then your tires are cupping and need to be replaced. You might even have a slight vibration when driving. If it feels fine you may have lost wheel weight and your wheel needs balancing.
-Rotate your tires every 5000 miles.
-We check your tires every time you come to Gandrud for an oil change and let you know the tread depth on each tire and if we find any issues. We can even rotate your tires during a quick lube oil change too.
